First of all, if your wife is on your case, it is good news! It means she wants a relationship with you.
Knowing the truth of this, we can look at all her communications as information. What kind of relationship do you think she would want? Distant? Cold? Despondent? No!
I’m guessing she would be looking for one that is close, secure, connected, and safe. One where she feels cared for. Buuut... do you care about her?
Amazing! Our job is simple, then. We just need to figure out what to do about the miscommunication. Now, maybe you have heard before that you have to change. That you have to be different and that’s what you’re Expecting is about to come next.
The truth is, you don’t have to be different.
If you truly care for you wife, that is enough. The way you show care and the way she feels care may be different. And that’s okay.
What I do want is for you to take a moment to recognize that she wants a relationship with you. I want you to recognize that she thinks you’re worth being with! If you can begin to believe that, it will change everything.
No longer will you have to shut down or pull away. No longer will you need to feel dis-interested in the relationship so that it doesn’t cause you pain.
When you believe that she wants a relationship with you, you can move into a relationship with her. You can move towards her with care when she gets on your case.
Because she is sending you information.
